I SOLISTI Composers Lab gives composers the opportunity to experiment with writing music for visual media. In 2019 the challenge is animation film.

We explore the work of audiovisual artist Sam Billen, who graduated in 2017 at LUCA School of Arts, C-mine Genk. With the most experienced composers George De Decker and Frederik Neyrinck as your coaches and the musicians and the other participating composers as your sounding board, you write your own soundtrack, which will be created by the musicians of I SOLISTI at a public concert by the end of the week. During the week you also get full cooperation with the ensemble to get your work in progress just right.

Who are the coaches?

Frederik Neyrinck studied piano and composition at the conservatories of Brussels, Stuttgart and Graz with Piet Kuijken (piano), Jan Van Landeghem, Marco Stroppa en Clemens Gadenstätter (composition). He worked with diverse Belgian and international orchestras, ensembles and musicians/theatre producers.

In 2017-2018 he was season’s composer at Concertgebouw Brugge, for which he organized among others the concert city circuit “Take Out Obrecht”. For LOD music theatre he co-created in 2018 the performance “Zolang hij niet zichzelve kent” (with Josse De Pauw, Koenraad Tinel, Lieselot De Wilde en SPECTRA). In November followed the opera “i c o n” (with Atelier Bildraum, Sabryna Pierre, Asko|Schönberg, Lieselot De Wilde en Tibo Vandenborre).
