Who are the coaches and conductor?

Martijn Padding studied composition with Louis Andriessen and musicology at the University of Utrecht. Padding also made radio documentaries for many years and he was a long time pianist accompanist of modern dance groups led by Krisztina de Châtel and Beppie Blankert. Several years he was the artistic director of Orkest de Volharding.He is currently professor and head of the composition department of the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague Holland.


In 2014 the opera Laika, composed at the request of Pierre Audi on a libretto by P.F Thomése and directed by visual artist Aernout Mik, was premiered at the Holland Festival. In 2015 he wrote a farewell work “Ick seg adieu ‘commissioned by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra at the departure of their chief conductor Mariss Jansons. Recently Softly Bouncing for the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra was completed.


In 2009 Padding won the UNESCO prize (International Rostrum of Composers) for his First Harmonium Concerto written for Orkest de Ereprijs and Dirk Luimes. In 2011 he received the Edison Classical award for the Asko | Schönberg CD recording of his ‘Three Concerti’. Padding was awarded the Johan Wagenaar prize 2016 for his complete oeuvre. In 2020 Martijn Padding was awarded the Andreaspenning of the city of Amsterdam.

For many years now, the composer Claude Ledoux has explored the idea of « crossed resonances » as he attempts to reflect our fragmented world in his music. His recent works demonstrate this interest in ‘cultural porosity’ and transversality in which emotion arises from geographical encounters and historical connections, linking spirituality to the most obvious aspects of our material existence.

Fascinated non-European music, he travelled particularly in the East, where he made many field researches in Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Northern India. His compositions (more than hundred works) are performed frequently on every continent. In 2016, he composed the compulsory concerto for the Queen Elisabeth Competition.

Founding member of the Ensemble LAPS, Ledoux has also written numerous articles on composition. He is Professor of Musical Analysis at the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP) and of Composition at Arts2 Mons. He also taught these subjects at the Universities of Campinas and São Paulo (Brazil) and at the Shanghai Conservatory (China). He often does lectures and masterclasses in numerous countries (recently in France, Armenia, Russia, Japan, etc…). He is member of the Royal Academy of Belgium since 2005.

Frederik Neyrinck (°1985) studied in Brussels, Stuttgart and Graz with Piet Kuijken (piano), Jan Van Landeghem, Marco Stroppa and Clemens Gadenstätter (composition).

His compositions were already performed by different ensembles and orchestras in Belgium and abroad. He also often makes transcriptions of existing repertoire. His music has been recorded by among others I SOLISTI, Spectra and Revue Blanche.

In 2017-2018, he was season’s composer at the Concertgebouw in Bruges. Since August 2020 composer he joins the artistic team of I SOLISTI as Artist in Residence for four seasons. He has received several awards such as the Austrian State Prize for Composition (2018) and the Förderpreis der Stadt Wien (2020).
He is also very active in the field of music theatre/opera. He is in residency at LOD muziektheater and collaborated also with Kopergietery Ghent, makemake produktionen Vienna and the State Theatre in Oldenburg.

As a pianist, he currently has a duo together with Teresa Doblinger (bass clarinet/dance) with which he recently won the NASOM-bursary for 2020 & 2021.

Martijn Dendievel studied music theory and cello at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Later he studied conducting in Weimar. In addition to lessons with Nicolás Pasquet and Ekhart Wycik, he followed master classes with Edo de Waart and Bernard Haitink, among others. He has been assistant conductor with Symfonieorkest Vlaanderen since 2017-2018

He has already conducted the Royal Flemish Philharmonic, the Flanders Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Weimar, the Jenaer Philharmonie, the Thüringer Philharmonie Gotha, the Luzern Festival Strings, the Symphony Orchestra Leipzig/Böhlen, the North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra Teplice, the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, the Symphony Orchestra of the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar, the Chamber Orchestra of the HfM Weimar and the Brussels Sinfonietta.

As a member of the globally unique project “Conductor’s Forum of German Musikrates”, he is given the opportunity to conduct concerts and perfect himself with renowned maestri during master classes. In December 2018 he won first prize in the conductor’s competition of the MDR-Sinfonieorchester, and earlier he received the DAAD prize from the HfM Weimar for his commitment to the university.
